last week : returned home from a difficult but ultimately triumphant west coast tour con nuestra amigos Nueva Vulcano de Barcelona, ES. we got along like brothers. 8 of us in one jet black 2000 Ford E350 XLT known as Big Black, pulling a trailer. no AC up the mountains and we're always going up mountains. great shows. couple of stinkers. back window busted out in 'Frisco by a local grifter who ended up only with Erics' bag somehow. thanks to everyone who made a point to be there, put us up, brought friends, sandwiches, and acid. hope we didn't disappoint. muchas gracias also to Santi Garcia for doing sound the entire tour for both bands for FREE! Santi is a very busy producer/engineer in St. Feliux, north of Barcelona. in fact, he just finished recording Jeremy Enigks' new record, which rules, by the way.
today : had 2 cups of coffee. took my twins to daycare. tried to avoid the glare of the homeless guy at Brushcreek at 71 Hiway. saw the Dark Knight. recognized one of Metcalfs' homeboys in it, (the schizophrenic guard that Harvey Dent almost killed in the alley). glided though a stop sign. stopped by the post office. made a turkey sandwich. glass of milk. sent emails. listened to new Russian Circles while sending said emails. enjoyed listening to Russian Circles. thought about needing to send a new masser. began this masser.
tomorrow : never put off till tomorrow what you can put off for a few more weeks.
this weekend : playing at Voodoo Lounge out at Harrahs' Casino with the Khrusty Bros and Snuff Jazz. it'll be a first time for us, playing or walking inside a casino, ever. no--i take that back. i went to one in Las Vegas once. but that's another story. this show should be a good time, it's a really big room and has awesome production so we're excited to be apart of it. hope you'll make some time to come and get rocked.
later this month and next month, and the next : basically it's our tour of KC and Lawrence in the next few months, so those of you in Nova Scotia will have to wait. however, we are going to CMJ in October and will be returning on tour with Magnetic Morning, which of course is the new project from Adam from Swervedriver and Jimmy from Album Leaf and Sam from Interpol. should be fun and takes us to some towns we might not normally go, i.e. cleveland, poughkeepsie, etc. dates will be posted soon.
forever and ever, amen : still talking to labels to decide who the proud parents of Tragic Boogie will be. have nice offers from good people but want to find the right one. sorry and thanks for being patient. hopefully folks will get a little taste of the new music from the our new film Life is Pleasure, which is selling quite well, thankyouverymuch.
