tragicomedy

9/3/2008

the summer that wasn't : our handsome bassist and resident hairdo of the band-- Eric Abert--has had one shitdog of a summer. severely twisted his ankle not once but twice at the Riot Room here in KC a few months ago, then when our window was bashed out in SF this past tour it was only his bag that was stolen. then he got roughed up and fined by the Arizon Border Patrol for a little something that should be decriminalized anyway. ahem.

the most recent harshing of Erics' mellow came while on vacation at Playa Escondida on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. he and his girl and 2 other couples had rented a boat to go snorkeling and had just returned when he and the other guys jumped out to pull the boat ashore. as they began to get it ashore a huge waved crashed in--pushing the boat on top of his legs almost up to his waist.

could've been much worse but apparently was fairly traumatic. got 7 stitches by a "medic" in his shin (see above) and bruised-up his legs like an old peach. the remainder of his vacation was pretty much shot and he had to arrange to have a wheelchair meet him at each airport. still is hobbling and laid up, totally unable to work.

however : we will rock tonight and beyond, stitches or not. in fact we have october dates lined up that take us to CMJ and back via some new towns (for us), with magnetic morning. rock waits for no man. or stitch. please make every effort to cheer for our injured soldier, and buy all of his bands' merch. it's really cool. special events planned so please read carefully.
