i only feel this sentiment a few times a day anymore but i couldn’t have summed it better than my buddy and artist Josh Duff has here. he scratched it out in about 6 minutes at work one day. and this beleaguered burner wearing what appears to a pontiffs hat of some sort is strangely perfect.

Chris “metsy” Metcalf arrives in Chicago tomorrow, rocking the Amtrak. the KC to CHI Amtrak route takes only 6hrs and 50 mins hauling balls as the crow flies, plus it’s cheap and kinda fun.

we’ll be writing and recording solid for the week and getting more “footage” for the DVD, which has taken on a larger scope to include both No One Love You studio footage and the new recording too. it’ll also deal with my addiction to bath salts, and hot baths and  candles and foot rubs and long walks on the beach.

cannot wait to rock the Empty Bottle this FRIDAY JAN 11 with Planetsexploder and RedGrave. me things there’ll be some new notes shredded that night. we shall see. and we always love playing the Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids. SAT JAN 12 we rock the ‘Scheme with Bars of Gold, with whom, it should be noted, we played the same venue last year. serendipitous.

Old Wes here, roughly 18 years into this goddamn life of ours, is quite literally on his last legs. he’s out-lived his feline brother Fergus by 2 years and his canine sisters Janis and Ruby by 3 years roughly. his “happy” meow is so grizzled that if uttered from any other cat it would sound like a reaction to some discomfort or pain. but from him he’s just saying “keep that good scratching comin!”. his rear legs are failing and he’s dragging cat litter around the house. he’s kind of a pain in the ass but is overall an archetype for how to carry on with dignity when life is really fucking hard. we should all take a lesson. heavy thoughts are with the people of Newtown CT. cheers wesley.
